Nautical art inspiration 5/1/12

While combing some old photos taken from our boat in Saint Thomas, I found this picture. I am working on 2 nautical pieces of art today and sometime go thru my beachy, sunset or boating pictures looking for something to inspire me.This was the funniest boat to me because it was like the captain just decided one day to build up and on to his current boat with plywood. It's like a 2nd story sweat lodge looking contraption. Does he really think that it will hold up in a heavy storm? Wouldn't you be afraid of tipping over in strong winds? Whatever floats your boat! » read more

Shellabration on Sanibel 4/23/12

One of my favorite shows to watch on Sunday morning is the CBS Sunday morning program. Today was no exception and I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my favorite places to shell, Sanibel, FL, featured on their program. Sanibel Island, FL is the best place to shell, in my opinion and so close to home to go to too. It's like the sand is a carpet of just shells that you can see for miles and miles. When you bend over while shelling, it's called the "sanibel stoop". My back never got so sunburned and hurt so much as the time I spent hours "stooping" to find treasures of shells. Shelling there is serious business! » read more

Island House art 4/18/12

Wether you lived on an actual island at one time or your your house is decorated in Island art to remind you of a vacation retreat you once took, there is just something about Islands that facinate all of us! Isn't it funny that palm trees on islands aren't the most fabulous looking trees by any means, but just the sight of them, makes us relax and want a pina colada? Island Life......its just a nice way to live. » read more

Juipter Art Festival weekend 3/10/12

The Jupiter Art Festival this last weekend (March 10 and 11th) was a sunny blast. Well, that was until the rain decided to come down around 3pm each day, then it wasn't so lazy and calm. My booth was right at the entrance to the 300 booth art show and where the trollies dropped off hungry morning shoppers so it was a perfect spot. I was also next door to a gal named Finny who does amazing jewlery (and who I had met at another street fair previously) and Janet who does jewlery cusions. It's nice having fun neighbors! Plus we were close to the Joy of Garlic folks (My favorite dip and maranara sauce) too. » read more

Nova Scotia bound 1/10/12

After snooping around on the Nova Scotia official tourist website about the area, the 7 regions that encompass it and all the great shopping, food and seashore it has, I WANT TO GO NOW! (ok, maybe when it's a little warmer in the spring).  This "Salty Breezes" custom sign will be traveling, come May, when it's owners take it along on their yearly trek to Halifax for vacation (and to plant their garden, I hear). » read more
